BA International Culinary Arts
This programme is delivered by Silver Mountain School of Hotel Management, in Kathmandu. It is validated by Queen ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµt University. Through our rigorous quality assurance procedures we ensure that the programme has the same academic standards as equivalent awards delivered by ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ.
The BA International Culinary Arts programme is a four-year degree designed to prepare and develop graduates for a career in culinary arts, in a variety of contexts. The programme includes a mix of practical, academic and management skills that will give graduates a range of career options.
¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµ provides guidance on teaching and assessment, access to online learning resources, staff support, development and quality assurance, including the moderation of all assessments. SMSHM are responsible for providing all the necessary facilities to ensure that students have a suitable environment for learning, all teaching, learning and assessment activities in the classroom, as well as providing student support, and effective programme management. SMSHM work exceptionally hard to ensure that students are afforded a positive student experience and to provide valuable opportunities for students to apply and extend their learning. In this way students are encouraged to recognise and value the knowledge and skills they are developing, and are enabled to enter the workforce with confidence in their abilities.
The programme is informed by the principles of responsible, ethical and sustainable business that underpin the work of Queen ¶¶ÒõÊÓÆµt Business School. This programme seeks facilitate the development of employment-ready graduates, who can lead and manage sustainable organisations in a turbulent environment and shape a better world, locally and globally. This commitment to ensuring that our graduates are well prepared to enter the workplace and make a positive contribution from the outset, means that the programme includes a number of opportunities for students to engage in hands-on, practical and authentic learning experiences. Most notably the programme contains a number of ‘practical’ modules designed to furnish students with crucial skills that they will need on taking up their preferred career path. These experiences culminate in two opportunities for the students to undertake an industry placement, through the Internship modules.

Placements: Placements: There are internships at the end of Year 2 and Year 4. Silver Mountain assist all the students with their internship, which can be done in Nepal or abroad.

The minimum entry requirements are:
- Candidates must complete 10+2 level of studies or equivalent in any stream
(Science, Humanities or Management) - Hotel Management is an optional subject during their grade 11 & 12 - Candidates must score 50% in aggregated marks.
Candidates must have studied in English Language for minimum of twelve years from grade 1-12 before they join SMSH. Potential students with weak language skills need to join the British Council/ American Language center for English classes. However, English language is a compulsory part of the curriculum in Nepalese Schools from primary level.
